My Father and My Son / Babam ve Oğlum

This is a 2005 Turkish production movie. Its scriptwriter and director is Çağan Irmak. The movie is about background events of Turkey in the times of coup. It treats the reflection of the coup to a family, lack of communication between afather and a son before the coup and wounds made by this.
Sadık leaves his father's farm and goes to university. He gets involved in political events. He gets married and his wife gives childbirth at the times of coup in Turkey (September 12,1980 Turkish Coup d'état). His wife dies in childbirth and Sadık's life turns upside down. He gets tortured for years.
After a couple years, he returns his father's farm with his son, Deniz. The reason for his return is that Sadık has a terminal disease and he wants to leave his son with his family.
I want to state that this movie is very important for Turkey for some reasons. First of all, in the times of the coup, a lot of people and families affected badly in Turkey. Secondly, in this movie, it is shown that there's a conflict and unfinished things between a father who wants to leave his job to his son and a son who has his own dreams. This is a worldwide problem. Thirdly, This movie takes place in Agean region and people talks in local dialect. This helps you to see the Agean culture. And the last one, like Victor Hugo said in Les Miserables, "There could be fathers who do not love their sons but there could not be grandfathers who do not love their grandsons madly." in this movie there is an example for this. There is a grandfather whose heart sinks for his grandson. But there is a differance, this grandfather loves his son very very much but his stubbornness and lack of communication prevent him showing his love. What do you think about how this story ends?

If you want to believe in happy endings, I reccomend you to lend and ear to the dreams of little Deniz whose all job is reading books.

After watching these movie, I am sure that you will get the desire of calling the ones you love and you will give them a big hug. And this is the director's purpose of produce this movie. :)

Fikret Kuşkan (Sadık)

Sadık who left his home because of conflicts but his heart stayed.

                                                                                                Çetin Tekindor (Hüseyin)

Father of Sadık, a grumpy old man whose heart is filled with longing for his son.

Hümeyra (Nuran)

Mother of Sadık. For years because of her husband, she couldn's see her Sadık and Deniz enough, She is a crazy grandmother who talks with a walkie-talkie.

                                                                                  Yetkin Dikinciler (Salim)

Salim is Sadık's big brother. He is a bit slow in understanding the things and he is the most loving and funny character in the movie.

Özge Özberk (Birgül)

Birgül is Sadık's unfinished love who he left also when he left his home.

                                                                                                                Binnur Kaya (Hanife)

The wife of Salim. The Crazy aunt, Hanife. You will laugh at her fuss.

       Ege Tanman (Deniz)

Sadık's son, Deniz. A child who brings the hearts together, builds bridges.

Spoilersss!

A few negative things about the movie, you can have a little hard times understanding the movie beacuse of the local dialect and it is based on Turkey's family relations and history. The comedy factor in the movie is based on the local dialect. So, Will there be an unhappy ending? No. ' Do you believe in believing? Believing in dreams?' The movie says that while you are growing up, does your dreams get small? What is your answer? Do you ever think what is the meaning of having somewhere you belong, a home? Do you ever think that when you leave somewhere but your heart stays behind? An unfinished love? Sadık comes back to face the things he could not make with his father and the things he had in his heart. With his Deniz. Father and son, grandfather and grandson, mother and son, big brother and brother. This film has everything about love. You should watch it if you want to see a lot of love and if you want to feel this.

"Do a person's dreams get smaller while he is growing up?"
"-We are happy.  aren't we Sadık?
- Of course we are happy, brother."

"Do you know the feeling that not being able to see a child's growing, father?"
" There are a lot of things that I want to tell him. You tell him, father."

"Give him a room, father. His home, which he can sometimes go away."

Fashion King (The movie)

I personally love Joo Won Thats why i watch this movie.
But in fact actually I watch this for Ahn Jae Hyun. I didnt realise that Joo Won in this.so this is the movie that  I start liking Joo Won.
First of all, we all know that he is a very talented actor.Anyway, the movie is in my opinion, not very popular. but its good for spending time.
The best part of this movie is that includes Joo Won. Its just for spending time. It doesnt give you a life lesson but maybe a little fashion sense. It is about a bot who is miserable poor and tries to become noticed by the girl who is not even he really likes but he wants to impress. He learns that the fashio or to be noticed is not about the prices but the right way to dress.
Anyway ;

Joo Won - Woo  Ki Myung                                    Ahn Jae Hyun - Kim Won Ho
A poor student who wants to be popular.                 The secret son of a chaebol who wants to be loved                                                                                by him

 Sulli - Kwak Eun-Jin

A girl who is a hardworking student .

Park Se Young - Park Hye Jin
The girl who wants to get everyone.

Kim Sung oh - Kim Nam  Jung
He was the fashion king for me. He is the sensei for Ki Myung.

This was a good movie. Totally Watchable. But there was no deep meanings. I recommend it because in the fashion sense it shows a different style. But its just for spending time.Good time. Or if you like some of the actors in this you can watch this. Not a waste of time but you should not expect more :)

She was Pretty / Geunyeoneun Yeppeodda

What is beauty for real? Are the ones who was beautiful when they were young, still beautiful  when they grow up? What do they love you for? For your beauty? or For yourself? How big would the friendship be?

There is a different story in this drama. Kim Hye Jin who was beautiful when she were little, comes across some hard times with the bankruptcy of her father and she loses everything along with her beauty. Is she ugly? In fact, no. She just doesnt have time and money to care about herself.
Ji Sung Joon who was a fat kid grows into a handsome man and succesful editor. This handsome man returns Korea to save a famous magazine and while being in Korea decides to meet his childhood friend and first love Kim Hye Jin. And the events starts from here.
Do you think Hye Jin will see his friend in confidence?
With this drama you will rethink about beauty, succes, determination, etc. Sometimes you will get angry, sometimes it will make you smile widely.

After character introduction, there will be spoilers, yes!

Kim Hye Jin (Hwang Jung Eum)                      Ji Sung Joon ( Park Seo Joon)

Min Ha ri ( Go Joon Hee )
Kim Hye Jin's childhood friend. They are very close like family.

Kim Shin Hyuk ( Choi Shi Won )
The funniest character in the drama. Just because she wears white socks with black shoes, he called Hye Jin, Jackson in the whole drama. We loved him very much, yes!

Now my comments about the drama. (Spoilersss!)

I liked the drama in genereal. I was so angry about Hye Jin not seeing Sung Joon and sending Ha Ri because she thinks she is ugly and Sung Joon not noticing Hye Jin. But I admit they show it in a funny way. Secondly, I find it exaggerated that the comments about the girl that saying she's ugly. For example, in the bus, a man pushes her head when it fell because he thinks she is ugly. Wouldn't it be uglier if the opposite way happened? Anyway, I liked how hardworking Hye Jin is but it pissed me when they make her do every job and she doesn't say anything.
I laughed when Song Joon hit the door because he was concentrated and when he drinks a litte but falls down immediately.  I found it so cute that when Hye Jin and Sung Joon talked and he saw his childhood friend in her and together talked about childhood songs and games. And of couse I got pissed when Ha Ri at first unavoidably but later on purpose, she tried to get close with Sung Joon without telling Hye Jin and using her memories. She should not have done that for the sake of their friendship. But Hye Jin's great heart could not take that her friend getting sad and said the man she loves that "She is important as you are." This was a lovely move. Would I do it? I dont know.  I think I would feel angry and broken. And and and, let me talk about Shin hyuk. I dont know how to tell of this men. It was so cute when he make Jackson buy him food, just because its funny, he mocks with her in the office, and without getting tired he carries Hye Jin and Sung Joon on his shoulders. Handsome, funny and kindhearted man! Oh and I laughed so much when Sung Joon was sick and Shin hyunk helped him. They were so lovable, maybe they will be chosen as the next new couple :))

If you want to have a really good time, I recommend this drama.

My Neighbor Totoro / Tonari No Totoro

                               My Neighbor Totoro

Are animes Cartoons? Is it a bit unfair just to call them cartoons? I am one of the people who considers animes art.

I talk about a movie which will make you happy with happiness of two little girls who can be happy with anything. Firstly the movie is relased in 1988. Its director is Miyazaki who is one of the founders of Studio Ghibli and he is called Walt Disney of Japan. Yeah, In this blog, you will see in time  praising of him a lot. Is it for us to praise him?

To talk about the storyline of the film, two litte sister whose mother is sick move to a mountain house which is near the hospital their mother stays, with their father. The kids meet a forest spirit who is only visible to children. and they become friends.
Why do I love this anime this much? It made me so happy that the children can be happy with a tiny thing, I cant stop watching. I loved so much the forest spirit called Totoro. Also, I like how Miyazaki shows his respect for forests, trees and spirits in his every movie. It is very appreciable that to tell a tree "Thank you for protecting my daughter.", to accept its existence and soul. I loved the movie due to these all and mostly the imagination used in forest spirits. I recommend to watch it whether you are young or old. You will get the urge to go inside the movie and jump around.

I will talk about a few scenes after talking about characters.

The older sister Satsuki who is responsible from the house , she cooks and lights the fire.

A little sassy but very sweet little sister Mei.

Tatsua Kusakabe, the father who is a professor in a university.

Totoro the forest spirit, you will remember Totoro from the Beginnings of Studio Ghibli's movies.

Which scenes do I like? ( May be spoilers. )

I loved how Mei chased these cute two things which she doesnt know what. She was so happy.

I loved how she saw the big totoro and played with it without being scared, copied and slept on it. Yes I would sleep, too.

I laughed the scene where Satsuke gave the umbrella to Totoro and Totoro loved the sound of rain falling on the umbrella and started jumping and it made rain pour from all trees. If it was me I would be scared.

In the movie, another thing I liked in terms of imagination was the catbus of course, yes the eyes were headlights!

If she can bring that corn to her mother, she will be OK quickly because Mei got it  from the field by herself.

If we laugh together we can beat evil.

For hope, at least for keeping on singing this song all the time and going around saying like Totoro to to ro.   Enjoy the movie!
