Hi!
Today, I chose a very old song and I did a special compilation
with different versions of the song by precious musicians for the ones who are
in love with the power of music,as I am, and like to share this love.
Personally, I love all versions individually. And the song is : Nihavend Longa
by Ms. Kemani Kevser.
The emphasis here on Ms. Kemani Kevser is really important
for me. Because she is one of the women composers in Ottoman Empire. When we think about that it is hard to be a woman in this world, people fight for women's rights and in the past, the women composers' works were stolen and presented as if they are belong to someone else, this is a big success that, in late 1800s, a woman's compositions have a very precious place in the music tradition.
This is a big success that it is still known in Turkey. It is used in a few movies and some TV ads. At the same time, I don't have an idea about how this happened but in Ramadan times, it is in every TV ad just like a generic music of a TV show. This composition which is sometimes joyful and sometimes melancholic has a magnificent beat.
From my own experiences, this composition is very hard to play. Real masters give it a very tasteful interpretation.
Let's come to presentation of this composition's different versions. Here: Turkish music, jazz and with violin, zither, drum,kabak-kemani, baglama and clarinet versions. Various kinds.
One more for the a capella lovers! Please comment. Enjoy the music!
